BOOKING YOUR TICKETS
Booking train tickets for European travel can be complicated, especially if you're trying to find the best prices. Below we explain the simplest options. This advice is for journeys starting from March 31st when the direct train service from Paris to Barcelona begins.
The earlier you book, the cheaper the price tends to be. Voyages SNCF tickets are available from 90 days in advance, Eurostar 120 days.
OPEN THESE TABS
1.GO TO VOYAGES SNCF TAB
Enter Paris Gare De Lyon and Barcelona and choose 16.00 for the time and choose 16.07 for your outward journey and 09.20 for the return from Barcelona. Add your return ticket to your basket ( don't pay yet, we'll explain why in a minute).
2. STAY WITH VOYAGES SNCF
Add your Eurostar ticket, London to Paris return, choosing times before 11.31 for your outward journey and 18.13 or later for your inbound journey. Add to your basket.
The reason for suggesting that you don't make the booking yet is to do with booking your ticket from your UK departure point to St.Pancras.
If you want to get the best price for your journey you'll need to do a bit more work before paying.
3.OPEN THE TRAINLINE TAB
See what the best price you can get is from your UK departure point to London St. Pancras.
4. OPEN THE EUROSTAR TAB
See if you can book from your point of departure all the way through to Paris ( they offer tickets from 130 UK towns and cities) and what price is being offered.
5. COMPARE PRICES
Now compare these prices and what type of ticket you can get for the price ( fixed departure time, any train etc).Remember that there are also various Railcard options for travel in the UK ( Family Railcard, Two Together, Senior Passes) which may also make a difference to your decision.
6. BOOK - TIME TO PAY
Once you've confirmed which option is the cheapest ( Trainline + Voyages SNCF or Eurostar + Voyages SNCF ) book your tickets.
