Ideal for driving routes, this glamorously contemporary, 4* Novotel is easy to reach without ploughing through city traffic, and just ten minutes from the train station. In a modern business area, there’s a car park next door and is just a short walk from the tram stop at Confluence, right by a huge shopping and cinema complex. But despite all the modern amenities, the view from the rear of the hotel is of the calming River Saone and the hills beyond.
Rooms are spotlessly chic, in soothing dove greys with bright colour accents here and there- there is nothing that could offend a traveller of any taste or nationality. Staff are helpful and largely English-speaking, breakfast can be taken on the balcony overlooking the river, and there is also a restaurant, a lounge bar, free wifi and a fitness centre. If a weary traveller could design the perfect mid-range hotel, where everything is simple, pleasant and calm, this would be it.
