Welcome to Heuchin

Guide to Heuchin, France

Heuchin, in the Seven Valleys area of Northern France, is a tiny, rural French village with a bar, post office, supermarket, patisserie, and not a great deal else unless you know everyone in the neighbourhood and can attend their parties.

Luckily the next best thing is staying at the Maison De Plumes, run by a British couple who have restored this once-dilapidated chateau to Art Deco splendour. Each of the five bird-themed rooms is individually decorated- particularly lovely are the Ostrich, with its four poster and Biba styling, and the large Parakeet, with a soothing view of the surrounding fields and woods.

There’s also the glamorous Swan suite, with a pedestal bath. Home cooked gourmet meals can be booked in advance, or they’ll make you a plate of local cheeses with a bottle of wine in your room. It’s not only beautiful and relaxing, it’s the ideal Franglais start to your holiday for those whose language skills rusted over after GCSEs, before you launch yourselves properly into the depths of France.
